The Town of Windsor continues to invest in their communities future and just opened two new National Demonstration Sites (NDS)'s at Boardwalk and Covenant Park!
After all that hard work it is now time to enjoy... the laughter that will fill the air... a good workout... friendships being made... a beautiful outdoor destination...
What sets these playgrounds above the rest:
Because they were designed with industry-leading best-practices focused on promoting physical activity, these playgrounds will intentionally promote physical activity through active play and encourage the developmental progression of skills through healthy movements. These playgrounds are already supporting the Town of Windsor's goals for their community and will continue to help them achieve goals in many years to come. Congratulations to the Town of Windsor!!!
Boardwalk Park specifically, features a play structure for school aged children with inclusive elements that is packed with manipulative play panels, musical instruments, an inclusive whirl, swings, many places to climb including a Vistarope climber, places to rest and engage in dramatic play, and a tower to climb up with slides to slide down!
At boardwalk Park there is also a place for adults to exercise as they watch their children play, that meets the standards for outdoor adult fitness parks NDS! This makes physical activity more available, accessible, affordable and enjoyable for adults in the community. The unit and exercise equipment provided helps users meet 5 elements of a well-rounded work out - aerobic activation, flexibility, balance, core development, and muscle development.
Covenant Park specifically, features a school age vistarope climber and play structure with a tower that has an overlook and slide, lots of climbers, musical instruments, and with places to rest and play! There is also a structure and equipment for preschool aged children as well (2-5 years) giving children a place to slide, climb, swing, spin, and engage in imaginative play; featuring fun freestanding equipment such as a butterfly net, sensory dome, merry go all, swings, and a sky run zip track!
Attending the grand opening on June 1st 2023, was a wonderful opportunity; one of our favorite parts of projects is seeing the structure installed and opened to the public so everyone can play! Angela Boese, an amazing ambassador of play, had the pleasure of helping the Town of Windsor from start to finish on these parks. Angela remarked "The Town of Windsor does a wonderful job with all their parks and outdoor spaces. It warmed my heart to be a part of it and witness all the giggles, smiles and play." Bringing play to communities is what we love most - We hope you enjoy your playgrounds as much as we enjoyed bringing them to life for you!
