Chaparral Park located in Scottsdale, Arizona wanted to bring a park to their community that gave children with disabilities the opportunity to play with other kids - not just alongside them - and to be able to reap the rewards that play has to offer. Together, City of Scottsdale, GameTime, and Triple M Recreation embarked on this journey and created an all-inclusive playground. On January 15, 2018 the park became available to the community and and it was remarkable to witness the excitement of everyone. The play area was designed using the principles found in Me2®: Seven Principles of Inclusive Playground Design. The new play setting encourages everyone to grow, learn, and experience the fun together. The poured-in-place rubber surfacing creates pathways throughout the park giving those children in a wheelchair or walker the ability to navigate throughout the park and experience the fun too. It is the first park to be recognized as a National Demonstration Site in the state of Arizona.
